Classroom Expectations
In our classroom, we expect to learn. We expect to have fun. We expect to laugh and play, to learn and grow. We expect to reach lofty goals - and we will do just that!
Classroom Discipline Plan
We will use praise to reinforce good behavior, and redirection to help curb inappropriate behavior. In general, kindergarteners want to do the right thing. We expect that students will follow the rules, and we will help students when they choose to do otherwise. We will follow the district's adopted "Responsiblity Centered Discipline," which involves the idea of "Give 'Em Five," as described below:
1. Support - tell student something truthful and positive.
2. Breakdown - tell student where the breakdown in behavior is occurring, to ensure the child understands.
3. Expectation - remind student what is expected to occur.
4. Benefit - explain why it is important, and why it is a better option to choose the more desirable behavior.
5. Closure - provide closure so that the student/teacher relationship is left intact.
